Abigail West Photography

Hi guys! My name is Abigail West and I'm an 18 year-old student originally from Wiltshire but currently living in Preston reading Chinese Language and Studies at the University of Central Lancashire. I have created this webpage just so people can look and enjoy my photographs, I don't have a particular field of photography so my photographs range from wildife to landscape. 

 

My interest in Photography started when my parents bought a Canon 450D in 2010 and I developed a 'talent' in using a technical camera. Photography eventually became a hobby of mine when I receieved an Olympus 420D for my 16th Birthday, including two lenses alongside it. Throughout 2012-2014 I started to increase my knowledge of how to capture good quality photographs with an SLR camera. In 2014 I decided I wanted a more upgraded camera and therefore I was given a Nikon D7100 which I am now glued to. I recently turned 19, this year, where I was given me a new macro lens to fit my Nikon. The detail it shows and the focus is incredible. Because of university work always getting in the way, I don't have much time through the week to get out and take photographs. However, when I go home I make sure I bring my camera with me so I am able to experiment more. 

 

When I started university I dedicated my time to work, friends and my social life and didn't allow myself to spare some time taking photographs. My university is in Preston which is just outside of the Lake District so I have beautiful surroundings which I am yet to take advantage of. I will definitely be going out a lot more this year before I go to China for my year abroad.

I have the beautiful countryside around me at my hometown in Wiltshire so this summer I have been going out at any given opportunity when I'm not at work. 

 

When I was 7 I moved to Taiwan for 4 years because of my dad's job so me and my family were very grateful to have visited many countries in Asia. This has been a massive impact to my life as I have been given so many opportunities to go to a range of places, from the Great Wall of China to the Empire State building in New York. 

 

I will be working on my webpage continuously and adding photographs as often as I can. It would be great help if you could let me know what I can do to improve my photographs, as well as my webpage.
